ZS SQUARE DirectDrive

In-ground lifting technology without hydraulic oil

Proven, except the oil: ZS SQUARE DirectDrive is a research approach for in-ground lifting technology without hydraulics. The motor and load nut form a single unit and convert rotation straight into lifting movement.

Research approach

Background

In-ground lifts save space and are established. But every conventional in-ground system relies on hydraulics — cylinders, pressure pumps, hydraulic hoses, a power unit and oil. That causes three follow-on problems for the workshop:

Permits: requirements under water protection law need to be met when a conventional in-ground lift is installed.

Environment and disposal: leaks can happen; the oil for disposal and any ground needing decontamination count as hazardous waste.

Maintenance: pressure tests, oil changes, hydraulic hose replacements and cylinder work.

Drive concept

The drive is purely electromechanical — no cylinders, no pumps, no power unit and no oil circuit. The motor and load nut form a single integrated unit; the spindle drive delivers constant lifting performance, whatever the temperature or workshop conditions. Electronic synchronisation ensures exactly even lifting and lowering on both sides.

Mechanical safety

The spindle is mechanically self-locking: even during a power failure, the vehicle stays safely in position — there’s no pressure loss and no risk of it slowly lowering. This is backed up by electronic fault detection.

In-ground design

Designed for cars and vans. The vehicle drives straight in, there’s no post space to work around, and the path to the next workstation stays clear. The classic hydraulic ZS SQUARE remains available as a variant.
